He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and practiced law from 1968 until joining Apyx Medical Corporation as a co-founder and Executive Vice President and director, in 1982. Mr. Makrides became President of the Company in 1985 and the CEO in December 1998 and served as such until March 18, 2011 at which point he relinquished his position as President, but remained CEO until December 2013.
